Bell Integration is a UK-based IT solutions provider. With a global footprint, Bell provides a broad range of IT services and solutions, including helping organizations migrate mission-critical workloads and applications to new environments.
Bell’s vClarus solution is a robust migration platform that includes methodologies, best practices, tools, and IT services to securely migrate workloads with control.
However, with so many organizations modernizing their data center infrastructure or moving workloads to various hyperscale cloud providers, Bell needed to find a faster way to plan and deliver migration engagements to support their clients with vClarus.
Like many process improvement efforts, it quickly became evident that implementing a better process required updating the IT system supporting that process. vClarus was supported by an aged application that simply did not support an iterative, agile process for planning and managing workload migrations — frustrating end-users and slowing customer
Solution: A User-Centric, Scalable, and Automated Migration Solution
Together, Bell Integration and BP3 developed a revised workflow solution for Bell Integration that improved the vClarus platform. Developed iteratively with a focus on customer experience, the design team worked with Bell to understand the end-users constraints and concerns and used that information to design a user-focused solution in the following ways:
End-user testing provided real-world feedback and identified changes would then be fed back into the design process.
- Existing customer stories highlighted the constraints and concerns of the vClarus platform and were incorporated so that the UX design was based on customer needs rather than product launch.
- BP3 delivered a web application and web service backend for the vClarus application that included the following technologies:
- A Camunda workload tool to handle long-running asynchronous processes, such as data aggregation. This allows the user to use the application and not be held up whilst the long running tasks complete.
- A specialized data matching engine for making migration infrastructure recommendations.
- Optimization engine for generating migration packages and schedules.
