Our client, a biotechnology company, revolutionized cancer treatment with its cell-based immunotherapy vaccine, which utilizes a patient's own live tissue cells. Due to the live nature of these cells, their limited shelf-life necessitates swift processing and transportation shortly after extraction. Speed, precision and accuracy are paramount.

To support this intricate process, our collaboration birthed Intellivenge, a cutting-edge Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system tailored specifically for this purpose. At the heart of Intellivenge lie two robust optimization engines designed to orchestrate this complex journey seamlessly.

The first 'Capable-To-Promise' engine empowers call center personnel to efficiently allocate patient appointments by considering available apheresis centers, transportation logistics, and manufacturing facilities. It intelligently factors in other scheduled treatments that could impact the manufacturing and delivery of the patient's personalized treatment, ensuring precision in scheduling.

Once an appointment is set, the second optimization engine takes charge, meticulously planning the critical logistics and manufacturing steps essential for the successful completion of the treatment. Both engines employ constraint-based optimization and finite-scheduling techniques, crafted using IBM's ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio.

Presently, the organization relies on Intellivenge to manage and schedule all their treatments, ensuring that each patient receives the personalized care they need within the narrow window of opportunity presented by the live tissue cells.
