Technical Considerations for an RPA Bot

Ready to build your first RPA bot? Let's go over some technical considerations.

Speaker 1: So you think you're ready to build your first RPA bot? That's great. This is the second in a two part series about what to consider before starting. Part one covered the business considerations. Well, part two, we'll get into the technical considerations. Typically, an RPA bot is completing a task that was previously done by a person. So you want to find one of these people and have them demonstrate the task. We generally call them subject matter experts. The first high level takeaway should be a list of systems that need to be accessed by the bot. This includes any applications, websites, email, or any other system that needs to be accessed.

Understanding the systems involved will help you to identify risk. RPA bots interact differently with all different types of systems, and it's important to quickly identify any systems that will be challenging to access. Next, you'll want to understand how often this task needs to be completed and how quickly it needs to be completed. This will help us to understand how much bot capacity needs to be dedicated to this task. Once you have a handle on these basic data points, you can start to get into the minutia of the task.

Does this task happen the same way every time? What factors might change the required behavior? Perhaps there's an opportunity to enhance the bot using artificial intelligence. Maybe there's an opportunity to re-engineer this task using APIs now that a bot will be running it. These are just some of the questions you should be asking, but we hope this gives you a sense of the mentality you'll need for success. BP3 gives people faster ways to get things done. We streamline and automate the processes that drive everything from customer experience to employee productivity. Now you know what to consider before building your first bot. So get started.
