BP3’s Recommended Wednesday Sessions for #IBMInterConnect 2017

First, let me start by saying that Tuesday was a blast. We had a great day with sessions, and I had the chance to appear on theCube – which was awesome. But also, we had a truly amazing customer event – the setting and the conversations and the quality of the companies and cultures represented was top notch. I love doing that event with our customers and our partners at IBM.
Don’t forgot to stop by our booth #560 on the floor – you can learn about the latest offerings from BP3, or just get a sense for how process and decision management are the foundations for all of the buzzword-worthy technologies out there.
Now, on to the Wednesday sessions. If you haven’t had conference breakfast, it may be worth giving it a try so that you can get some networking in with your peers. But if you’ve been eating the conference breakfast so far, this is a good opportunity to change it up.

The next wave of business processes has arrived: cognitive processes. By leveraging the Watson and Spark services in IBM Bluemix, additional context and insight are injected into processes, providing end-users with additional context and knowledge, thus improving the overall business value. We will walk through architectural considerations when interacting with cognitive services, and discuss how to utilize process data as a source of training materials for machine learning. SBI Life Insurance used to process new business policies within five to seven working days. They processed these application manually between the branches to a central processing center. Now SBI uses IBM BPM and ODM for new business policy processing from 630 branches across India. With the new solution they are able to process new business policies within two working days. Some 830 employees at branch offices and 5,000 agents across the country use the IBM BPM application.

John Wiley & Sons (Wiley) is a global publishing company specializing in the academic market. Wiley is in the midst of modernizing many of its technology platforms. One of the first major applications Wiley decided to overhaul was Author Services, which guides authors through the production and licensing of academic articles submitted to various journals and publications. The main goals of the project were to automate process execution where appropriate, and to monitor and optimize all processes. During this session Wiley, in conjunction with IBM Business Partner Cedrus, will discuss how they designed the Author Services 2 platform using IBM Blueworks Live and IBM Business Process Manager (BPM).

Banco de Occidente Improves Efficiency in Its Credit Process for Vehicles and Customers

Banco de Occidente is one of the biggest banks in Colombia and part of Grupo Aval, the country’s largest financial group. They had a challenge with two strategic products, vehicle and retail personal loans. Competitors were offering better pre-approval times, so they needed more operational control and visibility into where to improve their processes. They implemented the two credit processes in 12 months and realized these benefits: Faster pre-approval times; fulfillment of the SLAs promised to customers; optimization of manual tasks, with increased visibility; and reduction of rework within the process. The bank also determined that straight-through processing was a big opportunity. and they are currently on a project to include ODM.
