Wie geht’s, Frankfurt!

A new direct flight from Austin to Frankfurt is launching in 2016.  It looks like a seasonal route to begin with, just making two round trips per week, but it is a start. I’ll be curious to see how well it fares in the Austin market.  If they have wi-fi on the transatlantic flight, I predict good uptake.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport will see new seasonal service to Frankfurt, Germany, as Condor Airlines announced Wednesday that it will begin nonstop service between the two cities in 2016.
The flights will fly Mondays and Thursdays starting June 27, 2016 and run through Sept. 1 that year.
“New options for air service bring new business, jobs and tourism to Austin,” said Austin Mayor Steve Adler in a statement. “Recently the airport opened a bigger, better U.S. Customs area and a bright airy new security checkpoint area. And we are continuing to facilitate growth with a terminal expansion in the works.”

This follows on the heels of a very successful launch of direct service between Austin and London, as previously covered on this blog. In addition, a direct flight to Toronto.   And increased flights to Mexico. All good signs for business development and basing a strong international business right here in Austin. We’re along for the ride.
