Torchy’s Tacos: Moving up to 15 locations in the Austin area…

I remember the first time I had Torchy’s Tacos.  My wife had just given birth to our second child, our son Holland. We were in the hospital, and a friend brought us Torchy’s Tacos as a guilty pleasure food for breakfast (or was it lunch? no matter).

Just saw this post on Eater Austin: that Torchys is taking over it’s 15th location, after starting as a trailer in 2006:

Torchy’s Tacos owner Michael Rypka opened the first taco trailer on South 1st Street in 2006, and it expanded with locations throughout Texas, as well as Colorado and Oklahoma.

It is also yet another example of a successful Austin-based food-trailer making the transition to retail locations. If it keeps growing like this it might be the most successful such.
If you make it over to Torchy’s, I recommend ordering the Ace of Spades – it may not be on the menu, but they’ll make it. You won’t regret it.
