Chris Taylor, CEO, Square Root
Chris Taylor is founder and CEO of Square Root, a leading big data SaaS company focused on retail channel performance improvement. Since founding Square Root in 2006, Chris has remained true to its bootstrapped roots while achieving profitability every year and growing annual revenue to $12 million. This success is a direct result of Square Root’s approach to talent development: 1) think big, do bigger; 2) be customer inspired; 3) partner; and 4) thrive. This is an evolution of Trilogy’s “Only the Best” mantra.
Chris got his career start at Trilogy, where headed the West coast automotive business. He built this division into a highly profitable and strategic arm of the company. Chris also led the effort to develop Trilogy’s middle-tier distribution channel in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
Chris has has advised several startups, including: TrueCar, Pricelock, and CarOrder. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Carnegie Mellon with degrees in computer science and psychology.
Heather Brunner, CEO, WP Engine
As Chief Executive Officer for WP Engine, Heather is focused on business strategy, global growth and customer experience. A 23 year technology veteran, Heather has built a career creating business value for both privately-funded new ventures and Fortune 500 companies. For the past five years, Heather served as COO of Bazaarvoice (NASDAQ: BV), seeing all stages of early, rapid global growth, through to IPO and two acquisition integrations. Before joining Bazaarvoice, Heather served as president and CEO of Nuvo, a wholly owned subsidiary of Trilogy and provider of managed network services, and COO for B-Side (acquired by Slated), a privately funded entertainment technology company. She has held various other executive management roles at leading technology companies, including Coremetrics (acquired by IBM), Trilogy, and Concero, Oracle and Accenture.
Heather holds a bachelor’s degree in international economics from Trinity University, and the Austin Business Journal named her a 2010 Profiles in Power “Woman of Influence.” Heather is a returning judge for the 2014 E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year award for Central Texas. Heather is an active, decade long volunteer with the Capital Area United Way, serving on the Board of Directors and Strategic Programs Committee.
John Price, CEO & Chairman, Vast
John has more than 30 years of experience growing startups in product marketing and business development roles. He is the chief executive officer of Vast, a decision-making tool that leverages big data to help consumers make large purchases such as homes, cars, and vacations. Prior to founding Vast, John served as vice president of marketing and business development at Between Markets (acquired by Inovis). Before Between Markets, John spent 11 years as vice president of marketing and business development at enterprise software company Trilogy, where he was critical to the company’s growth from pre-revenue to $250 million in revenue. Previously, John was a director of technical marketing at Neuron Data and an AI associate at Shell Oil.
John holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He serves on the board of Sparefoot and is a mentor at Capital Factory.
Scott Francis, CTO & Co-Founder, BP3
I’m co-founder and CTO of BP3, a process innovation company focused on BPM. Previously, I held senior roles at Lombardi (later acquired by IBM), and Trilogy.
