Great First Day at #IBMImpact

We had a great first day at IBM Impact.? The day started off feeling like a bit of a Lombardi reunion as we kept running into people we know from those days.? But it wasn't long before we were setting up our booth and getting serious.

My work started with participating in a video shoot with other IBM Champions.? And then and interview on video with another crew, talking about how BP3 works with IBM across an array of BPM initiatives.? The Champions program has really stepped up their game at Impact this year, which was obvious even before I arrived.? Hats off to Daphne and Justin for doing such a great job so far!

Next, back to the booth to help with setup. Something always goes wrong with setup - video cables that don't work, WIFI that doesn't quite work, power strip that isn't quite right.? So you show up early and get set up.?? We wanted to be ready for the Solution Center reception that kicked off at 5pm.

Booth Setup!

And we had an amazing turnout for the reception overall - business partners and IBMers primarily - with a few customers mixed in.? There was great interest in our Brazos UI toolkit, and in BP3 in general.? I had a chance to catch up with old friends from Europe, from Vietnam, from India, and from all over the US.? A lot of independent consultants made the trip out this year, for Impact, a change from previous years.? Bruce Silver, Sandy Kemsley, and Neil Ward-Dutton all made appearances at the expo - and after seeing them at bpmNEXT it felt even more like a reunion.

We literally stayed til they turned the lights down, talking with IBMers and partners as we walked out the door and the vacuums started up.

By all accounts, Brazos was a hit.? Its humbling to have such a good response from the folks who know BPM best among IBMers and IBM partners and a few early-look customers.? We're hoping for a similarly positive reaction tomorrow when we get to show off Brazos to more IBM BPM customers and prospects.

Following the Solution Center reception, Andrew Paier and I attended an IBM Champions reception nearby.? You can imagine my surprise when I got to spend more than 45 minutes chatting up James Taylor about Decision Management and BPM.? So interesting to find so much common ground on the topic with someone who looks at it from the other side of the prism.? And very cool to meet someone whom you only know from reading their work for 10 years or more!

Of course we met quite a few impressive Websphere champions at the reception- but at some point we had to leave to at least join up with some of our BP3 colleagues and see how their day went.? So over sushi, we caught up on the day's events and coordinated follow-ups and meetings. ? Suffice to say, everyone did a great job executing on their first day.

It was a good day.

We're also looking forward to what is on tap Monday:
