Business Value from BPM: a Rare Public Case Study

Our colleagues over at Carlsberg Denmark have published a paper on their business value realization leveraging BPM. There are some key highlights even in the summary:

“While the acquired BPM setup and capacity is very limited, with expertise from around the company and two projects in the first iteration and fifteen more in the second, BPM has reached a breakeven point in a bit more than a year, including developer costs”

And then:

“By tackling more and more projects, Business Process Management supported by IBM’s platform and the Brazos toolkit from BP3, BPM maturity in the organization has risen, paving the way for faster development cycles and iterative improvement of already existing processes and supporting applications.”

Hard return on Investment is already 108% and expected to be 120% within 6 months.  By leveraging IBM BPM and Brazos, Carlsberg has identified common process patterns and achieved economies of scale.

Speaking as a vendor, for a moment, it is really refreshing to see a company sharing data like this with the world.  It used to be more common, and it has become a bit of a lost art.  But you can see from the report the kind of maturity Carlsberg Denmark has, and the impact BPM can have on both the business and the organization.

We’re grateful to count Carlsberg Denmark as a customer – it has been a great experience working with everyone there over the last couple of years!   And as a bonus, visiting their office might involve a beer!
