Austin is that Red line, soaring above the rest

So, this won’t really come as a surprise to anyone, but Austin looks like a boom town lately.  I like the way Hugh Forrest (of SXSW Interactive) put it:

Of course, out of context… is 42% a good number?  Well, the context is the other cities in Texas, the state that has probably had the best well-rounded growth over the last 10 years:

  • Dallas: 25%
  • Houston: 25%
  • Ft Worth: 21%
  • San Antonio: 20%

It also shows that the index has nearly doubled for Austin over 10 years, with less than half that improvement for the other charted Texas cities.  The full article is here on the Austin Business Journal site.  And, just by the way, a New Zealand company is opening its US headquarters in Austin.
