Is Apple doing Digital Process Automation?

It might seem like it from this headline from TechCrunch: “Apple has acquired Workflow, a powerful automation tool for iPad and iPhone“.  It mentions Apple,  Workflow, and automation…

Workflow has been around for a couple of years and we’ve covered it and its updates. It shares some similarity with the service IFTTT, in that it allows people to group together a bunch of actions that can allow them to perform complicated tasks with one tap. It had built up a sizeable number of users and downloads over the past few years.

There was even a discussion about this acquisition over on the BPM.com forum (Business Process Management).

Like IFTTT, ansd other tools like it, it isn’t precisely a process management tool or software. But there’s significant overlap with what an individual person wants out of such a tool.

As to whether Apple does process automation… or business process management… of course they do.
