2014: Year in Review

Post by

2014 was another great year for BPM, and for BP3.? 2014 Lacked the fireworks of some previous years - fewer acquisitions and fewer existential arguments between ACM, BPM, and ECM proponents.? What we did see was BPM vendors acquiring capabilities (like Pega's acquisition of Antenna), and BPM services companies getting picked up by bigger firms. And there was a lot of action in the open source space, with Alfresco, Camunda, and Bonitasoft all making news with product releases and customer wins. Even jBPM had a new release this year, jettisoning it's historical implementation in favor of one more aligned with jBOSS' rules flow.

BP3's exciting year was well captured in our info graphic at the bottom of this post.? But let's put a finer point on it:

  • We grew our revenue by more than 60% in 2014 over 2013, with great momentum heading into 2015.? Our team doubled in 2014 as we increased our investments in products and services. To this, we owe great thanks to our customers and partners who worked with us throughout the year.
  • We posted our fourth consecutive appearance on the Austin Fast 50.? Which, as you might guess, doesn't hurt your ability to be one of the top places to work in Austin.? It is no secret that if your mission is BPM, BP3 is the best place to work and realize that mission.
  • We acquired the interests of a fantastic BPM services team in the UK - Modexe.? We now have a critical mass of talent in Europe and the UK, allowing us to build from a solid base.? We expect to grow in Europe throughout 2015.? More importantly, we're really proud to be associated with the first-rate team we have joined forces with, and together we're going to make some BP3 customers in the UK and Europe very successful with BPM and ODM.
  • BPMCAMP was, by all accounts, a huge success.? We invited customers to join us for our all-hands meeting and here about BPM as we think about it.? It was so successful that we're going to reprise the event again this year.? Our customers' participation only enhanced the content throughout.
  • We released new products this year:? Brazos Portal, Brazos Charts, and Brazos UI Enterprise.? Over 825 Developers registered for Brazos by end of year (we're already approaching 1000). And most importantly, we achieved over 60 production Brazos deployments worldwide in 2014.
  • We have another product in private beta that we can't wait to release publicly. Stay tuned!
  • A personal bucket list item checked off: Sandy Kemsley reviewed Brazos Portal on her blog: One Ring to Rule them All.
  • We moved into new, spacious digs on the 4th floor of our building - allowing us to host more customers, more team members, and more guests in our space.
  • We returned to BPMNEXT to present the future of responsive UI Development for BPM.
  • We posted to this blog 254 times in 2014.? If you want to keep up with BP3, this is the place to do it.
  • We had more production deployments of BPM in 2014 than any previous year, including 5 major processes at one customer.
  • We had yet another great intern class, with great results and the beginnings of a fantastic college recruiting class.
  • We continued to build on our partnership with Alfresco and Activiti in 2015, becoming their premier BPM partner in Europe and the US.? We also announced support for Activiti BPM for our Brazos Portal.
  • We are building on partnerships with other open source BPM vendors in the US.? We bring a great deal of expertise to the table, and we find that our methodology and technical skills translate well to these product offerings. Vendors that care about customer success are partnering with BP3 for delivery.

Expect to see more progress for BP3 in 2015.

2015 seems like a good time to ask questions for the year ahead:

  • How do you want to improve your customer experience?
  • How do you want to improve your business processes?
  • How do you want to remove cost and pain from your BPM efforts?
  • How do you want to partner with a firm that is totally committed to your success?
