The Laws of BPM
Great tongue-in-cheek (?) post from Alexander Samarin on the Laws of BPM. Some of it is inside-baseball funny, and some of it is just plain perceptive. I’d like to add a couple additional laws:
13th Law of BPM
BPM will die a new death every year at the hands of prognosticators, naysayers, and pundits.
Corollary: BPM will, at the same time, grow again every year at the hands of vendors and customers solving real-world business process problems.
14th Law of BPM
There will be way too much focus on theory and definitions, and not enough focus on getting things done, in any discussion forum online.
15th Law of BPM
No one cares about BPMN model portability as much as developers in the field, and no one cares less than customers, who pick one platform and expect to stick with it. (see: database portability).
The discussion kind of reminded me of the six barriers to BPM Success.
