Blueworks Live April 2013 Update – Just in time for IBM Impact! by

So Blueworks Live has been updated with the April 2013 Release.

If you haven’t been keeping score, Blueworks Live has been steadily updating every couple of months (6-12 weeks) for years now. David Brakoniecki rightly concludes:

“BlueworksLive is clearly being moved into a position to be THE requirement gathering tool for the the BPM suite of products in IBM.”

I agree. The previous foray into rules was tentative, but this one is decisive:

  1. An extensive Decision Discovery feature-set was added to the April 2013 release, including a new decision diagram, a diagram editor, metrics capture, change dynamics, etc.
  2. Decisions can be linked to processes in the Blueworks Live library, rather than orphaned on their own.
  3. Exporting to PDF or Excel are key features for business analysts.
  4. Decision Diagramming is based on OMG’s Decision Model Notation (DMN).

IBM also released great overview presentations online, first of the whole release, and then of just the Decision Management coverage.

Also, Bruce Silver has posted new training content for Blueworks Live.  All of this is mandatory material for the BP3 team.  IBM is continuing to invest in Blueworks Live and it just keeps getting more interesting as a tool for capturing and refining requirements and understanding of process (and now, decisions).
