Three bits of fundraising news hit the radar last week –

Tabbedout raising $3.5M, and Biophysical Corp raised $4.2M. Meanwhile, Zilliant raised another $8M round from Main Street Capital.

It appears the momentum in Austin for funding startups and small companies is still pretty strong.  Combined with the news of the new tech hub downtown, there’s good momentum going into the second half of 2012.

And in case there was any doubt that Austin is home to more than just high tech startups and entrepreneurs, the Alamo Draft House is opening locations in San Francisco and two in New York… The Alamo Draft House wasn’t the first to come up with the idea of serving food during a movie, but they’ve been willing and able to tweak the concept over the years to create a better and better product.  In an era when movie theaters are struggling, Alamo is firing on all cylinders.
